The domains of the ecosystem
Eight domains structure the agri-system ecosystem, from production to trading — each with its families, its actors and its value chains.
The Agriculture domain (DA) covers the plant value chains — cash crops, staple foods, market gardening, fruits, oilseeds, medicinal and aromatic plants — and the ecosystem that keeps them alive: input and seedling supply, production, cooperatives, intermediaries, primary processing, distribution, specialised services and the sector's institutions.
Explore →The Livestock domain (DE) covers the terrestrial animal value chains — cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, poultry, beekeeping, rabbits, snails, specialised farming — and their ecosystem: the zootechnical upstream, livestock farmers and their organisations, animal collection and trade, slaughter and animal processing, meat and animal-product distribution, veterinary services. Aquaculture and fisheries have had their own domain, DH, since 31 August 2026: water is not pasture, and a fish cannot be stored on the hoof.
Explore →The Fisheries & aquaculture domain (DH) covers the water value chains — fish farming in ponds, tanks and cages, marine and inland capture — and the ecosystem that sustains them: the aquaculture upstream of hatcheries and feed, fish farmers, fishers and their organisations, fish trading and landing, artisanal and industrial processing, cold-chain distribution, specialised services and the sector's institutions. It was detached from the Livestock domain on 31 August 2026: water imposes its own dependencies — oxygen, feed, cold — and its own legal regime.
Explore →The Forest & forest products domain (DF) covers the forestry value chains — timber, bamboo, wild honey, wild fruits and seeds, edible mushrooms and insects, palm sap, non-timber products, reforestation and carbon — and the ecosystem that sustains them: silvicultural upstream, holders of harvesting titles, community and council forestry, gathering, sawing and wood processing, trading and export traceability, management services and the sector's institutions.
Explore →The Agri-food processing domain (DT) brings together the units that turn raw material into product: primary and secondary processing, packaging, quality and compliance, industrial logistics and the specialised services of the agri-food plant.
Explore →The Logistics & distribution domain (DL) organises the physical circulation of products: collection, transport, storage, cold chain, transit and export, logistics platforms. This is the link that decides what reaches the market — and in what condition.
Explore →The Specialised services domain (DS) gathers the providers that equip the value chains: digital and traceability solutions, advisory and expertise, training, finance, insurance, certification. Ecosystem partners, not project promoters.
Explore →The Cross-cutting actors domain (DX) unites those who work across all value chains at once: AgriTech and agricultural FinTech, study offices, engineering and infrastructure, laboratories, standardisation and compliance, advisory firms, finance and insurance, institutions and NGOs, cross-cutting services. XP-NOVA, an engineering and advisory firm, belongs to this domain.
Explore →The Institutions & regulation domain (DI) gathers public authority and its relays: ministries, local authorities, NGOs, programmes and projects, public laboratories, regulation and standards. These actors frame, fund and control the ecosystem — they do not run commercial projects.
Explore →The Trading & Export domain (DTX) covers market placement: local, regional and international trading, brokerage and negotiation, export compliance (SPS, EUDR, HACCP), market intelligence, customs and forwarding services, digital trade platforms.
