Livestock

The Livestock domain (DE) covers the terrestrial animal value chains — cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, poultry, beekeeping, rabbits, snails, specialised farming — and their ecosystem: the zootechnical upstream, livestock farmers and their organisations, animal collection and trade, slaughter and animal processing, meat and animal-product distribution, veterinary services. Aquaculture and fisheries have had their own domain, DH, since 31 August 2026: water is not pasture, and a fish cannot be stored on the hoof.

structured livestock value chains (FE01–FE07)

30 %

of agricultural GDP comes from livestock

2x

the demand for animal protein by 2035

Key challenges
  • Structural deficit in animal products: Cameroon imports meat, milk and eggs.
  • Animal health and biosecurity insufficiently mastered on farms.
  • Expensive and irregular animal feed, dependent on imported inputs.
  • Nascent cold chain between livestock areas and consumption centers.
What XP-NOVA brings
  • Design of modern livestock units: buildings, genetics, technical management.
  • Structuring of the milk, meat and egg value chains — from farm to processing.
  • Cold-chain engineering: collection, storage, refrigerated transport.
  • Financing structures adapted to the long cycles of livestock farming.
