Brokers & market agents

As a broker or commercial agent, you connect producers, processors and buyers and help them bring sales to a successful close.

Definition in the architecture : Intermediation, brokerage, commercial representation

Brokers & market agents
Your activities

What you do

  • Prospect national, regional and international buyers on behalf of sellers
  • Represent cooperatives, processors or exporters commercially on the market
  • Match supply and demand, negotiate terms and help conclude contracts
  • Keep both parties informed on prices, specifications and market trends
  • Follow sales through to delivery and final settlement
Your role in the value chain

You are a trusted intermediary between the upstream and downstream ends of the Produce – Process – Export chain. You receive sales mandates from cooperatives, processors and exporters, and requests from national and foreign buyers. You deliver qualified introductions, negotiated contracts and reliable market intelligence. You lower the cost of finding partners, secure transactions through your knowledge of both sides and unlock access to markets that producers cannot reach on their own.

Where are you found?

Across the whole country, with a concentration in Douala and Yaoundé, where most buyers, exporters and manufacturers are based. Agents also operate in major provincial cities such as Bafoussam, Bamenda, Garoua or Bertoua, close to production basins and wholesale markets.

Your place in the ecosystem

Why your business matters in Cameroon and Central Africa

In value chains where supply is scattered and market information scarce, brokers and agents act as connectors. They allow small cooperatives and artisanal processors to reach urban, regional or international buyers without a sales force of their own. They contribute to price formation, to the fluidity of trade and to opening CEMAC markets, neighbouring Nigeria and the wider AfCFTA. Their professionalisation, with clear mandates and transparent practices, builds trust between actors and eases contracting, a precondition for more ambitious local processing.

What your directory profile should declare
