Insurance companies
You cover the climate, sanitary and operating risks that weigh on producers, livestock keepers and the businesses of the value chains.
Definition in the architecture : Cover against climate, sanitary and operating risks in agropastoral value chains
What you do
- Design crop, livestock and business-interruption insurance suited to the value chains
- Cover climate risks through index-based or conventional products
- Insure stocks, warehouses, factories and goods in transit
- Cover farm equipment, vehicles and civil liability
- Distribute cover through microfinance institutions, cooperatives and digital channels
You receive requests from farmers, livestock keepers, cooperatives, processors and exporters, often relayed by banks and microfinance institutions that require cover. You deliver protection against the hazards that threaten a season, a herd, a stock or a shipment. You reassure lenders, who are more willing to finance an insured risk, and in doing so you unlock investment. You rely on weather-data providers, veterinarians and loss adjusters to price policies and assess claims across the Produce – Process – Export chain.
Where are you found?Company head offices are located in Douala and Yaoundé, with agencies and brokers in the regional capitals. Agricultural and pastoral products are mostly deployed in the cotton and livestock areas of the North, Far North and Adamawa, in the basins of the West and on the plantations of the Littoral and South-West.
Why your business matters in Cameroon and Central Africa
Cameroon’s agropastoral value chains remain exposed to drought in the Sudano-Sahelian zone, flooding, animal disease outbreaks and fire, with no compensation mechanism for most actors. Developing agricultural insurance is a condition of modernisation: it stabilises producer incomes, reassures funders and protects investment in processing and logistics. For exporters, cargo and liability insurance is a requirement of buyers and carriers alike. In Central Africa, companies that build offers suited to the rural economy contribute to the resilience of family farms and to the security of supply chains.
The headings that project promoters, partners and institutions look at first. Fill them in with your real orders of magnitude: this is what makes your profile usable.
- Designing products that family farms can afford and understand
- Using weather, satellite and veterinary data to price policies and settle claims
- Partnering with banks and microfinance institutions to bundle insurance and credit
- Covering exporters’ stocks and shipments to CEMAC and international markets
