Commercial & development banks

You finance the working capital, investments and seasonal campaigns of the businesses that produce, process and export agricultural goods.

Definition in the architecture : Working-capital, investment and seasonal-campaign financing for value-chain actors

Commercial & development banks
Your activities

What you do

  • Finance working capital and purchasing campaigns for cooperatives and exporters
  • Grant investment loans for equipment, factories and infrastructure
  • Structure financing backed by stocks, export contracts and guarantees
  • Provide payment, foreign-exchange and treasury-management services
  • Support agri-industrial projects alongside guarantee funds and development partners
Your role in the value chain

You receive applications from structured farms, cooperatives, processors, traders and exporters and provide the funds they need to buy the harvest, equip the factory or hold on until the foreign buyer pays. You work with insurers, guarantee funds, engineering firms and certification bodies whose input secures your decisions. You unlock scale: without seasonal and investment credit, local processing and export remain out of reach for most actors in the Produce – Process – Export chain.

Where are you found?

Head offices are concentrated in Douala, the economic capital and export port, and in Yaoundé, seat of government. Branch networks cover the regional capitals and the main agricultural towns: Bafoussam, Bamenda, Garoua, Maroua, Ngaoundéré, Bertoua and Ebolowa. Agricultural loan files are often prepared in the regions and approved at head office.

Your place in the ecosystem

Why your business matters in Cameroon and Central Africa

Financing remains one of the main obstacles to the development of agropastoral value chains in Cameroon and Central Africa. Commercial and development banks are the only institutions able to mobilise the volumes required for collection campaigns, processing plants and logistics infrastructure. Their commitment determines whether businesses can fulfil regional and international orders within the CEMAC and AfCFTA frameworks. By designing products suited to agricultural cycles and to the guarantees actually available, they contribute to food sovereignty, job creation and the move of exports up the value ladder.

What your directory profile should declare

The headings that project promoters, partners and institutions look at first. Fill them in with your real orders of magnitude: this is what makes your profile usable.

Banks, microfinance, investment funds: they decide on financing — and a non-bankable project gets none, whatever its agronomic quality.

Your day-to-day challenges
  • Incomplete or implausible applications that consume appraisal time.
  • Agricultural risk hard to assess without in-house technical expertise.
  • Monitoring the use of funds after disbursement.
What XP-NOVA brings you
  • Files structured in the format expected by lending windows, with verifiable milestones.
  • Independent technical opinions on feasibility and risk exposure.
  • Milestone-based mission tracking — the AMO/MOE agreement and escrow secure disbursement.
