When a greenhouse is justified

Greenhouse and soilless production serves first to secure yields near cities: tomato, onion, chilli and leafy vegetables supply urban markets daily and bring quick income on small areas. A greenhouse makes sense when demand is proven, when water is available all year and when pumping energy does not fail. It makes none as an isolated equipment purchase: a poorly sized production facility — too big, too small, badly located — mortgages profitability from the design stage.

The vegetable grower who wants to move from seasonal to regular production, the investor considering a horticultural or seed project near a city, the processor who wants to secure raw-material supply, the farmer who already has a site and wants to master water on it.

How we proceed

Water first. Know the soil and master the water before developing: pedology, water resource, irrigation and drainage are sized to measure, for the crops and the site. Water-efficient irrigation and reasoned fertilisation are designed together with the production system, not afterwards.

The production facility is then designed to last: developments, greenhouses and hydroponics sized to the project and the site, with the energy that goes with them — solar or hybrid mix, pumping, cold storage if the harvest requires it. The short cycle of vegetable growing makes the project highly sensitive to irrigation water and pumping installations: that is where resilience is decided.

Finally, buy the right equipment at the right price: specifications, consultation in lots with local and international suppliers, assistance with selection, then acceptance and commissioning under the firm’s control.

What you receive

A soil and water-resource study, an irrigation and drainage layout, a siting plan for the greenhouse and its annexes, an equipment specification and the analysis of bids, a verifiable investment budget and, on delivery, an acceptance and commissioning report.
